Founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland
in 1881, Movado earned almost 100 patents in its first 100
years, a testament to its technological excellence and forward-thinking
design philosophy.
Widely recognized for its legendary Museum Watch, Movado has
become synonymous with the clean, modern lines that originated
in the Bauhaus movement of the 1920s. Movado’s classic
Museum Watch, defined by a single dot at 12 o’clock
symbolizing the sun at high noon, is widely regarded as the
purest way to conceptualise time. The famous numberless dial,
designed in 1847 by American artist Nathan George Horwitt,
is part of the permanent design collection of the Museum of
Modern Art in New York City.
